Mene Marketplace Technologies Ltd ("Mene.ng", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains the categories of personal information we collect, the specific business reasons for doing so, and your legal rights over your data.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information to operate the marketplace, secure user accounts, process requested services, and prevent fraud:
- Registration Data: Full name, verified email address, telephone/WhatsApp number, password hash.
- Merchant Verification (KYC): Identity document type and number, government ID scans, proof of address, and CAC business registration documents where applicable.
- Payment Data: Payment references, amounts, gateway status, and receipts required to confirm purchases or account services. Card details are processed by the selected payment provider and are not stored by Mene.ng.
- Marketplace Records: Listings, offers, chat messages, reports, support requests, and account activity required to provide and moderate the service.
- Anonymous Usage Statistics: Daily page-view totals, general traffic source, device category, and country code where supplied by our hosting network. Mene.ng does not store raw IP addresses, full device fingerprints, cursor movements, or session recordings for analytics.
2. Cookies and Device Storage
Mene.ng uses an essential first-party session cookie to authenticate users, protect account access, and maintain a signed-in session. We do not use cookies for advertising, cross-site tracking, or selling user profiles to data brokers.
We also use first-party browser storage for functional preferences such as saved listings, interface settings, notice acknowledgement, and temporary account state. These records are used only to operate and improve the Mene.ng experience on the user's device.
Our first-party traffic measurement uses a temporary session identifier held in browser session storage. It is used to avoid counting the same visitor repeatedly within a browsing session and is not used for cross-site advertising or tracking.
3. How Your Information is Used
- Operating user accounts, listings, direct messages, offers, payments, and requested marketplace services.
- Verifying merchant identity and reducing fraudulent or misleading activity.
- Sending automated security alerts, OTP login codes, and dispute status updates.
- Complying with statutory anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CFT) laws in Nigeria.
4. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do NOT sell or lease your personal information to marketing brokers. Your data is shared strictly on a need-to-know basis with:
- Payment Processors: Payment gateways such as Paystack and Flutterwave when a user chooses to make a payment.
- Authentication and Notification Providers: Google or Facebook when a user chooses social sign-in, and OneSignal when push notifications are enabled.
- Identity Verification Providers: Secure APIs to confirm valid NIN and BVN match without storing sensitive raw passwords.
- Law Enforcement Agencies: When required by a valid Nigerian court subpoena or official fraud investigation.
5. Your Rights Under the NDPA
You hold full rights to request a copy of your stored data, rectify inaccurate profile information, or request account closure and data deletion by contacting privacy@mene.ng.
